RESEARCH

Sensors for Environmental Contaminants

We are interested in the development and testing of sensor technologies for the detection of environmental contaminants. A current focus of our work in this area is in the use of Raman spectroscopy to detect both biologic as well as organic contaminants.

Environmental Implications of Nanotechnology

A long standing focus of our research effort has been to examine the environmental implications of nanotechnology. We utilize a fundamental approach to systematically evaluate how engineered and natural nanomaterials behave in environmental matrices.

Environmentally Mediated Antimicrobial Resistance Dissemination

A major research thrust in the Vikesland group is the study of the environmental dissemination of antibiotic resistance.
